What To Expect

We want to ensure that your treatment is as relaxing and rejuvenating as possible. Before your appointment, please take a few minutes to download and complete the initial intake forms and bring them with you to your first appointment. Please eat at least an hour before treatment, but do not come overly hungry. To optimize the effectiveness of the treatments, we request that you not consume alcohol or drugs for 24 hours prior to your appointment.

During the first visit, which will usually take an hour and a half, we will take time to get a thorough understanding of your complaint as well as your overall health status. This will include questions about your health history and current lifestyle. There may or may not be a physical exam depending on your condition. Pulse and tongue examination are a traditional and vital part of the Chinese diagnosis procedure.

Treatment is usually done on a massage table, acupuncture needles will be inserted, and you will be left to quietly rest in comfort and warmth for 20-45 minutes with the needles in place. You may receive an additional treatment modality which may include cupping, moxabustion, or gua sha.

After the treatment, you may be given an herbal prescription or recommendations for dietary or lifestyle changes, stretching or exercises to perform at home, or other 'homework' as laid out by your practitioner in your personal treatment plan. At this time, additional treatments will be scheduled if needed. After your visit, we recommend that you drink plenty of water and not engage in strenuous activity for a few hours. It is perfectly normal to feel relaxed and a bit tired after a treatment.
